Empowering Women Financially
One of the key aims of Bixie – and Jerry Cole – is the financial empowerment of women around the world. Globally, women make approximately 80% of purchasing decisions and hold around 40% of the world’s wealth. However, this is in disproportionate contrast to the number of women who invest.
Only 40% of women invest globally, in only a quarter of the markets. This investment gap coupled with the wage gap means that women are statistically 80% more likely than men to have to deal with poverty when they retire.
Bixie is working to provide solutions that will help close these investment and the wage gaps.
The ‘She-cession’
The ‘she-cession’ is a term that has been coined to describe the gender-biased impact of the current global pandemic on female workers.
In just one year, women around the world have collectively experience an estimated $800 billion in lost income. This has prompted a gender recession on a global scale.
The United Nations and the world’s largest aid donors – including the UK, the US and the EU – are currently working to prioritise financial literacy and digital cash, effectively digitizing global aid.
